    Louis O'Brien(Author)
Hasta La Flip-Flops! is the hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking, story of Louie 'The Lip' O'Brien, a face on the club scene of Palma, Mallorca from 1967 until the early 90s and, in his own way, a legend. Louie's story begins when young people tasted freedom in the sun for the first time and a revolution was quietly taking place in Majorca. But it ends in darkness, when, for Louie who believed he'd found paradise in the sun forever, the party is over. A real pageturner, Hasta La Flip-Flops! also uncovers a side of Majorca and Spain never really explored before.

I was in Majorca and part of the beach party ticket scene for one summer season in the early 70s. One of my friends who was also there told me about the book. I have to say I really wanted to read this to spot the characters and places I remember. It was pleasant to read and I did recognise lots of the people and what went on. But I don't think this really was too interesting otherwise. Sorry Louie.

I worked for louis and Curly in Majorca in 1997 so when i saw this i had to buy it.Although the book focuses on a different period i still loved it. Louis descriptions of life working on The Rock as he calls it, were spot on and brought back some very happy memories for me. If you are intrested in the Club scene then i recomend this book. Its a fantastic insight as to how the club game has evolved out there. Funny in lots of places as well. Shone some light in to an otherwise dreary January for me. Recommend it to anyone, who like me, has a softspot for the Island.Top read!

Autobio of a very interesting guy who fell in love with Spain in the 60s...and kept on coming back. Buy it!

I could not put this book down! The authors account of his life in Spain is highly entertaining and keeps you wanting to read on.It has a touch of the 'Carry On' films days about it along with an 'Alright' laddishness.A well written, funny, page turning biography.Highly recommended - I couldn't stop laughing.I bought this book in Mallorca.Sarah Hope-Walker (Novelist).
